About Holdfast: Nations At War server hosting

Holdfast: Nations At War is the home of the line battle: 150 players marching in formation, volleys on the officer's command and artillery thundering across the field. Whether you run a regiment, host public events or want a private drill server, an EGF Holdfast server gives you full admin control from the F1 admin menu with your own admin password.

Holdfast is CPU-bound rather than RAM-hungry: the game simulation runs on a single thread, so single-core clock speed matters far more than memory. That is why our tiers are sized by player count rather than gigabytes — Skirmish for 50-player events, Regiment for 100 and Line Battle for a full 150-player field, each on high-clock cores with the memory headroom to match.

Your serverconfig is fully editable (map rotation, game modes, rounds, faction limits), Steam Workshop maps are supported and the REGION setting is fixed to "europe" so your server appears in the correct browser tab for South African and European players alike.

Good to know
You choose your admin password when you order — press F1 in game to open the admin menu, and change the password any time from the panel. Your server is registered in the in-game browser for you, and your players only ever need the single address shown on your dashboard. If you upload your own serverconfig, leave the port and maximum-player lines as they are: we keep them in step with your plan automatically.

Mods are yours to play with
Your server, your rules — mod it however you like. What we look after is the server itself: that it is powered on, reachable from the internet, on the hardware you paid for and backed up. Mods, plugins, modpacks and custom game files sit outside that, so we cannot debug a mod that misbehaves or two mods that disagree. If something goes sideways we will always help you get a clean, running server back — take a backup before you add or update mods and you can roll back yourself in a click.

High performance hardware

  • High single-core clock CPUs — 7 Days to Die and Holdfast run their world simulation on one thread
  • Fast SSD/NVMe storage
  • Hosted in Bloemfontein, South Africa — central, low ping nationwide
  • Pelican Panel: console, file manager, SFTP, backups
  • We recommend 6 GB RAM for a smooth Holdfast: Nations At War experience (minimum 4 GB).

Frequently asked questions

Answers specific to Holdfast: Nations At War first, then the general ones.

Holdfast runs its simulation on a single CPU thread, so a full 150-player server needs a fast core, not lots of memory. Our tiers pair the right CPU allocation with the player cap so events stay smooth.

Your server appears in the in-game browser, and your dashboard shows a single address for anyone joining directly. Everything the server needs is opened and set up for you.

You choose it when ordering. Press F1 in game and enter it to open the admin menu. You can change it any time from the panel's startup editor.

Yes. Upload it through the file manager and point your server at it. Leave the port and maximum-player lines as they are — we keep those in step with your plan automatically.

Yes, on the Line Battle tier. It gets 4 vCPU and 8 GB RAM, and our uplink is provisioned for a full field.

Holdfast's server browser has no Africa region, and Europe is where South African players look for servers. The hardware itself is in Bloemfontein, so your ping is local.

Servers are deployed automatically the moment Paystack confirms your payment — usually within 5 to 10 minutes including the first game download. You get an email with the connection details as soon as it is ready.

We use Paystack: Visa, Mastercard, Instant EFT, SnapScan. Card payments renew automatically each month; EFT and SnapScan payers get a Pay-now reminder 5 days and 1 day before renewal.

Yes. Everything is month-to-month with no contract. Cancel from your dashboard at any time and the server stays online until the end of the period you have paid for.

48-hour money-back on your first server if it isn't right for you — open a support ticket and we'll refund via Paystack. Time already used is not refundable; if we miss our 99.9% uptime target in a month through our fault, request a pro-rata credit.

Help tickets on the portal and our Discord community. We are a South African team, so support is in your time zone.

Yes, and you never need to ask us first. Upload mods and custom configs through the panel file manager or SFTP, and edit startup variables (difficulty, player slots, admin password) in the panel. Some games can also be ordered with a mod framework already installed — you pick that build at checkout.
